EL LLANO defeated CB VILADECANS 7-6 in the final on Sunday to clinch the Copa Del Rey title, the cup tournament in Spanish Baseball. On Saturday, VILADECANS eliminated local rival SAN BOI in semi-final one. The team from Gijon defeated host BASEBALL NAVARRA in the second. SANT BOI finished then in third after beating NAVARRA in the game for third place.

Eric Segura drove in the winning run in the ninth to lead VILADECANS to a 2-1 victory against the third-ranked team in the Spanish Championship. SANT BOI had scored first in the second period through Alvin Figueroa’s RBI double. But VILADECANS came back and tied the game in the fifth, when Jordi Perez laid down a bunt to bring Alex Tenllado home.
Alberto Magallon (W 1-0) allowed one run on eight hits and three walks in a complete game victory. National Team veteran Yoel Hernandez (L 0-1) gave up ten hits, two runs and two base on balls in nine innings.
Semi 2: El Llano – Baseball Navarra 10-8

EL LLANO overcame an early 0-5 deficit to win a slugfest 10-8 against NAVARRA. They turned the score into their favor through a six-run fourth, blew the lead afterwards, before regaining the advantage in the seventh to seal the victory. First baseman Jose Morales had four RBI and highlighted the EL LLANO rally in the fourth with a three-run shot over the fence in left field. Three players scored twice. Hector Perozo had two hits, three walks, a homerun, two runs and two RBIs for NAVARRA. Arkaitz Ordoki drove in three.
Carlos Fente (W 1-0) went the distance by throwing a whopping 163 pitches. He gave up twelve hits, eight runs and ten bb. He struck out nine. Diego Armando Perez started for NAVARRA and allowed six runs on nine hits in 3 1/3 innings. Sergio Sousa took the loss.

In a game which went back and forth SANT BOI scored the winning run in the eighth and final frame to win 6-5 and finish in third place. Rafael Rivas reached home on an error by second baseman Miguel Lasa. It was the third time Rivas scored on Sunday. Marc Carrillo had three hits, scored twice and drove in another run. Javier Zabalza had three hits and two RBI for NAVARRA.
Jose Estebin Cruz (W 1-0) gave up eight hits, five runs (4 ER) and four bb in eight innings, while striking out seven. Juan Miguel Marte began for Navarra and was charged with seven hits, four runs and three walks in four innings. Victor Martinez took the loss.

EL LLANO won the Copa Del Rey with a 7-6 victory against CB VILADECANS in a thrilling extra inning affair. Juan Osvaldo Alonso delivered the walk off RBI double in the bottom of the tenth to secure the win. The Catalonian team had tied the game in the eighth on Eric Segura’s two-run double. Jose Morales continued his hitting spree from Saturday and went two for four with two homeruns and four RBIs. He finished the weekend with eight RBIs. Roberto Noriega scored twice for EL LLANO. Felix Cano Sr. drove in two for VILADECANS. Juan Alberto Fernandez got three hits in four at bats.
Ruben Fente (W 1-0) pitched the complete ten innings, allowing 16 hits, six runs and two bb. Marc Jodar started for CB and gave up five hits, four runs and three walks in five innings. Francisco Despaigne took the loss.
