The Bern Cardinals got a head start into the Swiss finals and need just one more win to celebrate the championship.
After an 11-6 at home against the Challengers on Saturday they beat them 21-4 in Zurich on Sunday.
Game 1:
In the first one, the Cards scored seven runs in the fourth to seal the win. Jhonny PERIGO (2-4, 2 RBI) and Ronnie ZIMMERMANN (2-5, 2 RBI) hit homeruns. John BAUM had two RBI’s as well. Alex WAECHLI and Vitus HUBER scored twice. Chris PALENTIUS and Tobias SIEGRIST (2 RBI) slugged back-to-back homeruns for the Challengers in the seventh.
Severin FRIES (W 1-0) allowed eleven hits, five runs and one walk in 6 2/3 innings. Thomas BURGER (L 0-1) had a very wild start for Zurich. He gave up four hits, nine runs (8 ER) and four walks in 3 1/3 innings. He threw three wild pitches, hit four batters and made a throwing error.

Game 2:
On Sunday the series continued in Zurich. But the results remained the same. Bern had a big inning in this one as well. They already led 9-2, when they got eleven runs on the board in the sixth. Angelo RODRIGUEZ scored four runs. Raphael HAENZI, Jhonny PERIGO and Samuel PAULINO MARCOS reached the plate three times apiece. Both defensive formations posted some extremely high error totals. Zurich had eleven miscues, the Cards six. Just 7 of the 25 runs were earned.
Christoph BEYELER (W 1-0) allowed eight hits, four runs and three walks in eight innings. Harry BREGY (L 0-1) gave up six hits, eight unearned runs and four base on balls in four-plus innings.

The third and maybe decisive game will be played on September 29 in Bern.
