After winning the Spanish Baseball championship, the TENERIFE MARLINS also won the cup tournament “Copa del Rey” after beating SANT BOI 2-1 in the finals on Sunday. A sac bunt by Nestor Perez plated the decisive run in the seventh for the MARLINS. CB hat tied the contest in the sixth on a sac fly by Jose Luis Riera. PUERTO CRUZ had led since the second after a RBI double by Victor Lopez. Leslie Nacar (W 1-0) went the distance, allowing five hits, one run and three walks. He struck out seven. Jose Estebin Cruz (L 0-1) gave up four hits, two runs and five bb in nine innings too. As TENERIFE already clinched a European Cup berth with the Spanish title, SANT BOI will take the second Spanish spot.
For Third Place: FC Barcelona – San Inazio Bilbao 13-2 (5)

The FC BARCELONA easily took third place in the tournament after defeating SAN INAZIO 13-2. They scored in each of the first five frames. Emmanuel Febles, who also scored three times, and Jason Friedman combined for six RBI. Kelvin Marianucci hit a two-run homerun for BILBAO. Friedman (W 1-0) also struck out seven in five innings for the win from the mound. Alberto Magallon (L 0-1) surrendered 14 hits, 13 runs (7 ER) and a walk in three-plus innings.

On Saturday in the semi-final, Ivan Granados (W 1-0) allowed just four hits and two walks in nine innings to lead the MARLINS to a 5-0 shutout over SAN INAZIO. He struck out nine. The offense scored five runs between the fourth and sixth. Fidel Mane (L 0-1) issued five runs (3 ER) on twelve hits in eight innings.

SANT BOI advanced to the finals with a 2-0 win over the FC BARCELONA on Saturday evening. A two-run single by Xavier Civit in the second decided the outcome early. Oscar Alvarez (W 1-0) gave up just six hits and three bb in a complete game shutout. He struck out eight. Homer Baez (L 0-1) conceded five hits, two runs and a walk in 6 2/3 innings.
