Press release European Softball Federation
Following the request of the organizers, Softball Europe Executive Council approved a change of dates for the 2021 Women’s European Championship.
The twenty-second Women’s European Championship is scheduled for June 27 – July 3. The competition will take place at the ballparks of Friuli Venezia Giulia Region in Italy.
Italy is taking part in the Olympic Tournament, anticipated to the July 21st, 2021.
Italy is the Defending Champion, after winning the Women’s European Championship Grand Final in 2019 in Ostrava, Czech Republic, against the Netherlands, with the result of 2-3.
Previously, due to the coronavirus outbreak, the 2020 Women’s European Championship had been postponed to 2021.
As Softball Europe postponed the Women’s European Championships from 2020 till 2021, all registered entries for these events are automatically registered also for 2021. If any National Federation didn’t register for these events, they have the right to do so this year. Also, all entered teams may withdraw without any penalties until January 31, 2021, as per Softball Europe regulations.
All entries of the postponed Championships from 2020 until 2021 stayed the same as to the Pools. In case of drastic changes as to withdrawals or new entries, Softball Europe Technical Committee might have to redo the pools. In case of little changes, then the pools will stay the same with just a few new allocations.
