The 12th edition of the ISF Women’s Softball World Championship in Caracas, Venezuela is going to start on Wednesday with Olympic champion Japan taking on Argentina and host Venezuela facing the Dominican Republic. A total of 16 teams, including the Netherlands, Great Britain and the Czech Republic, will battle for the trophy until July 2nd.
The three European teams in the tournament will kick off the schedule on Thursday. All three already arrived in Venezuela in the past few days. The Netherlands and the Czech Republic finished off preparations during the so-called International Softball Series in Venezuela, while Great Britain held a training camp in Florida. The Dutch and the British teams are set in Group A and will face each other on Thursday. The Czech squad is slotted with top favorites Team USA in Group B and opens the tourney against the Dominican team.
