Baseball Jobs Overseas (BBJO) founder Dave Burns has announced his retirement from competitive baseball. The Canadian native won four Austrian championships (2008, 2010, 2016, 2017) with the Attnang-Puchheim Athletics and wore the team’s uniform in 308 regular-season and playoff contests.
Burns compiled a .304/.408/.460 slash line and hit 26 home runs in his career, good enough for 6th all-time in Austria, in 250 regular-season games. His 211 career RBI are good enough for 12th in the annals, with his 270 career hits good enough for 18th.
The playoff version of Burns was even better, with a .332/.408/.505 slash line, nine home runs, and 60 RBI in 58 playoff games.
Burns is known far beyond Austria’s borders as the founder of BBJO, the web portal he founded in 2013 that links baseball and softball players and coaches with international clubs.
