While the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers determine the last four spots in the 2017 main event of the World Baseball Classic this year, 2013 runner-up Puerto Rico already has ramped up preparations for next year’s WBC. On Wednesday the Puerto Rican Baseball Federation announced that former Major League player Alex Cora has been appointed as general manager of the team. He is now up to task to create a competitive roster. Edwin Rodriguez will remain manager of the team. Cora played 14 years in the big leagues.
