The baseball community mourns the loss of William “Bill” Arce. He passed away due to heart failure.
Arce’s contributions to international baseball and especially European baseball had been essential. Besides coaching at college in California to a 446-336-16 record between 1958 and 1979, he would constantly travel the world to develop our beloved sport. He coached several national teams in Europe and led the Netherlands and Italy to European Championship titles in the 1970ies.
In 1985 he founded the International Sports Group (ISG), which as non-profit organization still organizes numerous coaching clinics internationally. Arce will be missed heavily in international baseball, but his heritage continues through every player and coach in Europe.
RIP Bill.
