The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC, www.wbsc.co) recently published the 2013 year end ranking of the Men’s World Baseball Rankings. This is the breakdown for the European teams, which sees the Netherlands coming out on top. Italy, Spain, Germany, Great Britain and Israel follow, as teams which have participated in the World Baseball Classic and the WBC Qualifiers took advantage. 12 European teams are ranked within the Top 40.
Only the World Port Tournament and the B-Level European Championship were included from this year’s competitions in European Baseball, as both received sanctioning from the WBSC. Organizers of tournaments with national teams should use the opportunity to ask for sanctioning, which gives European teams more chances to make up ground in the World Baseball Rankings.
