FIORINI FORLI won the first two games of the Italian Softball League finals in BOLLATE on Saturday and takes a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series. They now have home field advantage in the remaining three games next weekend and need just one more victory for the championship.

Kasi Carroll struck out ten in seven innings en route to a complete game shutout to lead FORLI to a 1-0 victory in game one of the finals. Carroll allowed just four hits and won the pitcher’s duel versus Kelly Hardie. The BOLLATE starter gave up one unearned run on four hits and two walks in seven innings. She struck out seven. The lone run on the match crossed the plate in the sixth, when Stephanie Ray reached on a muffed throw, advanced to third on a single by Christen Bedwell and scored on a sac fly by Stefania Vitaliani.

FIORINI used a five-run second to win the second game 5-1 and take a commanding lead in the championship series. Eva Trevisan had the spectacular hit in the big frame, when she homered to center field with one on. Stefania Vitaliani and Elisa Lolli also had RBIs. Brenda De Blaes homered in the seventh for SANOTINT to deny a second shutout for FORLI on the day. But it was too little, too late. Leslie Malerich struck out eleven in a complete game victory. She allowed two hits, one run and five walks. Greta Ceccetti was charged with four hits, five unearned runs and two base on balls in two innings. Debora Moretto did a nice job in relief, pitching five innings of three-hit ball, holding BOLLATE in reach.
