The Technical Commission of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) has announced the format and the schedule for the European Championship next summer in Stuttgart, Heidenheim and Neuenburg, Germany from July 23rd to August 1st. A total of twelve teams are qualified for the tournament, including favorite and title defender Netherlands.
The format will be similar to the 2009 Baseball World Cup, which was held in Europe in September. After a round robin in phase one, the top three teams of each group will qualify for the final round. These six teams will form a new group and will play another round-robin. The two results from round one against the accompanying advancing teams will be count for the second phase standings. The top two teams of this phase will play the championship game on August 1st.
