GB Baseball is excited to announce the appointment of Josh Taylor as the first Pitching Coach for the Women’s National Team. Taylor is well-known as a women’s Baseball advocate and has been a keen supporter of Women’s Baseball UK since Day One. Taylor was recently appointed as the Head Coach for the newly formed Sheffield Bruins women’s team; in addition, he served for some time as a pitching intern for Great Britain Baseball.
“I am delighted to confirm Josh Taylor as the first Pitching Coach for the Women’s National Baseball Team,” remarked Amanda Hocking, Women’s GB General Manager. “In the past four years, Josh has played a key role in forming the foundations for women’s baseball in the UK and has a great understanding of the women’s game on an international level too. Using his experiences in pitching and incredible knowledge of pitching mechanics, I am confident that Josh will be a great asset towards the team and its success.”
An enthusiastic coach, Taylor uses his experience to combine a positive mental approach to pitching, with mechanically driven factors to get the most from those he coaches. Above all, Taylor is excited to bring Great Britain’s Women’s team to the forefront of European baseball and eventually worldwide.
“Josh is a fantastic addition to the coaching staff,” noted GB’s Pitching and Catching Coordinator, Will Lintern. “He brings an excellent knowledge of the principles of pitching and throwing into the role and is an eager young coach who is keen to make an impact and continue to learn. The pitching staff will benefit tremendously under his watch.”
As a player, Taylor is an experienced arm for the Sheffield Bruins Baseball Club and the Northern Knights, the all-star selection for the Northern Baseball League of the British Baseball League (BBL).
“This appointment is truly special to me. I can’t express how truly excited and grateful I am to be working with Great Britain Baseball,” observed Taylor. “I simply can’t wait to get started on working towards the European Championships in [2022]. The girls are an exciting group and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve.”
